Description
A large Derby porcelain figure of William Shakespeare, taken from the statue by Scheemaker which is in poets’ corner Westminster Abbey.
This figure has William Shakespeare with his left hand pointing at an unrolled scroll with a few words in gilt from the script of The Tempest, Act 4 Scene 1 . His right elbow rests upon three books and stands on a shaped oval scroll-moulded base highlighted in turquoise and gold.
Circa; 1765-70.
Condition; Restored crack on his neck and bow on the left shoe.
