A delightful English South Staffordshire Bilston enamel hinged decorative bonbonniere box in the form of small Goldfinch bird.

This colourful charming Bird was manufactured by the Huguenot French Protestant craftsmen who were highly skilled in the art of enamelling and fled to England to avoid religious persecution in the 16th to 18th centuries in Catholic dominated France.
