A pottery portrait figure of Benjamin Franklin made in the potteries Staffordshire England in the mid nineteenth century

The figure is decorated wearing a wonderful cobalt blue jacket and a hand painted waistcoat, he is holding the bill of rights in his right hand and a tricorn hat in his left. At the front of the base is raised moulded name of Franklin finished in gold.

He is known for drafting the declaration of independence and the American Constitution and for signing the three documents that freed America from Britain.

Circa: 1850.

Condition: Good, no restoration,  just a faint hair line crack in the right ankle.
