Description

A Staffordshire portrait figure of Mr Barton in the role of Giaffier, the Pasha of Abydos in the theatrical production, the Bride of Abydos. Giaffier is the cruel ruler in the story, which is based on a poem by Lord Byron and dramatized by William Dimond. Mr Barton is the actor who played the character in this specific poplar production in 1847. He is standing holding a scroll.
